Since completing a Bachelors Degree in Horticulture in 1974 Steve has worked in a diverse range of vocations within the horticultural and land management industries. Included were many years as owner operator of a wholesale nursery and landscaping business. For the past twelve years Steve has been a teacher of horticulture at the Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE and operates a consultancy service.

Steve is passionate about gardening and with his wife Julie has established a tropical garden on 2 acres in the Mooloolah Valley. The garden has been open a number of times through Open Gardens Australia (formerly the Australia’s Open Garden Scheme) and attracts regular visits from garden club members.
